LED vs LCD TVs – The Contenders

A battle is raging in the electronics world and the war of LED vs LCD TVs looks like it may have a new champion.  Let’s look at the contenders.  In this corner we have the reigning champion LCD TVs that have shown they have what it takes to survive in the ring of modern electronics.  They are lightweight, offer great features, and are cost effective and affordable.  In the other corner we have the contender; LED TVs.  They weigh considerably less than the LCD TVs, up to half as much; they have a higher contrast ratio and refresh rate which leads to a crisper, clearer picture; they are healthier for the environment by using less energy and being able to emit mercury that all LCDs still have in them.  It looks like the LED TVs have the knockout punch to take the title.  The only factor that may keep it from taking the belt is that LED TVs are still very high priced compared to LCD TVs and in this economy that really is a game changer.  Although LED TVs have the higher quality and better picture with all the great features like WiFi and others they are still too highly priced at the moment to take over the title.  If the price comes down for LED vs LCD TVs they will have no problem delivering the final knockout punch to take the title.  There is no question that the LED TVs offer a wide variety of design and features that are highly superior to the LCD models.

In the battle of LED vs LCD TVs it does seem that LEDs have the edge.  They are not only much lighter but they are also much thinner.  LEDs use far less energy as well as taking up less space.  LEDs offer far more advanced features that promote higher picture quality and resolution.  As the battle continues it does seem that as far as LED vs LCD TVs that the LCD is a one trick pony having only the option of a lower price.  Yes, this is a big factor that may keep them in the game for years to come.  LEDs offer up a wide variety of design superiority and features that on paper should be enough to take the championship but it’s still up in the air as the economy shows no signs of improving and people are willing to settle for less to save some money.

LCDs do seem to have maxed out their potential while the LEDs still have the capacity to improve the technology even further and this gives them the superior edge for the future.  For now it seems that the LED vs LCD TVs fight won’t end with a knockout.  So for now it’s decision time for the consumer.  They can save some money and get a nice LCD television or they can fork out a little more money and get a high quality LED TV.  The choice is yours consumer, so what will it be?  Who will win in the battle for LED vs LCD TVs?
